Dry Ice Production CO₂ Recovery System
The YTC CO₂ Recovery System is purpose-engineered to solve this challenge. By capturing the CO₂ gas that would otherwise be vented during the dry ice production process, YTC technology raises the conversion rate from as low as 40% to an industry-leading 90–95% — dramatically improving efficiency, reducing raw material consumption, and cutting emissions.

YTC Dry Ice CO₂ Recovery Technology

Maximizing Yield, Minimizing Waste

In conventional dry ice production, pellet and block machines convert only 40–45% of the CO₂ supplied into usable dry ice — the remaining 55–60% is vented, unused, into the atmosphere. This is a physical characteristic of the process, and unfortunately not something conventional equipment can change. The result is not only a significant loss of valuable resource, but also an unnecessary environmental burden.

The YTC CO₂ Recovery System is purpose-engineered to solve this challenge. By capturing the CO₂ gas that would otherwise be lost to vent during dry ice production, YTC technology raises the conversion rate from as low as 40% to an industry-leading 90–95% — dramatically improving efficiency, reducing raw material consumption, and cutting emissions.

The YTC Advantage

  • Higher conversion efficiency – Boost CO₂-to-dry-ice conversion from ~40–45% up to 90–95%
  • Lower production costs – Reduce dry ice production costs by up to 50% through gas recovery
  • Reduced CO₂ consumption – Recover and reuse gas that would otherwise be lost, lowering raw material costs
  • Lower environmental impact – Minimize atmospheric CO₂ release from production operations
  • Automatic operation – Fully automatic (PLC-controlled) for reliable, hands-off performance
  • Compact, heavy-duty design – Efficient footprint built for continuous industrial use
  • Fast, simple installation – Delivered pre-piped, pre-wired, and ready to install
  • Improved process economics – Maximize output per unit of CO₂ input, strengthening overall plant profitability

YTC CO₂ gas revert recovery system: special features

  • CO₂ buffer balloon — Purpose-designed and constructed from food-grade acceptable material, the buffer balloon provides a constant back pressure to the dry ice machine while ensuring stable CO₂ flow conditions to the gas compressor. Reheating of the CO₂ revert gas can be supplied as required, depending on local site conditions.
  • CO₂ compressor — A water-cooled, dry-running, non-lubricated and oil-free 2-stage CO₂ piston compressor, with separate cooling for each stage, compresses the recovered gas down to 18–20 barg.
  • CO₂ liquefier — Liquefies the compressed CO₂ gas through a standard refrigeration loop. The reliquefied CO₂ is then returned to the liquid CO₂ storage tank for reuse in dry ice production.
  • Control system — A central control system automatically manages the entire process, housing the electric motor distribution, starting, operator interface, and PLC control system.

With YTC technology, dry ice producers turn a costly inefficiency into a competitive advantage — recovering more, wasting less, and operating more sustainably.
