YTC CO₂ Recovery System for Breweries

Turning a By-Product into a Resource

Fermentation is an unavoidable part of brewing — and so is the CO₂ it produces. Instead of releasing this CO₂ into the atmosphere and purchasing external gas to meet operational needs, breweries can now close the loop with the YTC CO₂ Recovery System, capturing, purifying, and reusing the CO₂ generated during their own fermentation process.

By recovering CO₂ on-site, breweries and other beverage producers significantly improve their carbon footprint while reducing dependency on the external CO₂ market — turning an emission into a valuable, reusable resource.

How It Works

During recovery, raw CO₂ generated in the fermentation tanks is captured in its gaseous state and passed through a high-efficiency purification process. The purified gas is then compressed and liquefied, resulting in high-purity liquid CO₂ that is stored in an on-site tank — ready for reuse in carbonation, packaging, and other production processes, or for commercial resale.

Each YTC system is custom-engineered around the calculated CO₂ output of the customer's fermentation process and the specific conditions of the production site. Our goal is seamless integration into existing brewery operations — ensuring efficient, reliable performance and long-term system durability.

The Business Case

Brewing produces roughly 4 kg of CO₂ per hectoliter of beer, while carbonating that same beer requires only about 3 kg. This surplus means breweries recovering their own CO₂ can not only cover their internal demand but also generate additional CO₂ for other commercial applications — including beverage carbonation, medical use, and industrial applications such as MIG welding.

With a typical payback period of 1.5 to 4 years, the YTC CO₂ Recovery System delivers a fast, measurable return on investment while strengthening operational resilience.

Key Benefits at a Glance

  • Save money by eliminating the need to purchase external CO₂
  • Reduce environmental impact by recycling your own CO₂ emissions
  • Gain independence from CO₂ market fluctuations and shortages
  • Achieve rapid ROI, typically within 1.5–4 years
  • Access global support through YTC's engineering and service network
